I remember back in summer as I was writing the neuro-exploration series I realised that very soon I would be hitting the 500 posts published mark.
Well as I have just seen as completing more writing, today is that day!
Some of you have been here since that very beginning in November 2022, I have founder paid subscribers to which I am hugely grateful, I have annual subscribers, monthly subscribers, free subscribers and followers.
I decided orignally to start posting on Substack as it seemed a platform that had values similar to mine. I am not overly sure that we still have then same ethos today, however as I am currently commencing an audit of all that I do, for now I am still posting away!
I do not use any other platform as ethically they have been in complete opposition to my aims and objectives.
My quest has been to support all who want to in creating a better (and kinder) world, one brain at a time. I have always been excited to hear from people who enjoy my work, who apply my work and who share my work.
As I look around the world at large now, it is apparent to me that although there has been no more urgent time for people to be able to increase their environmental mastery, internal locus of control and understand the influence of their surroundings, there is just a tiny, minority of people who also understand the importance of doing so.
I think a lot about how I post and what I post.
I never want to sensationalise or shock as others do.
I also do not want to reduce or rationalise, making people into parts not wholes.
I studied, researched and developed as a scientist, but now, in 2024 I do not want to be a scientist in the oft repeated paradigm of ‘THE SCIENCE’, I instead am an ally of humanity, holding a mirror to what and who we are, but kindly, with support and also with suggestions at how we can all be and do better.
I have been in a state of grief and loss as I look around my own metaphorical backyard and see signs of further dehumanisation, degradation, poor communication and practices that are not there to bring out the best in, or for, people.
It is both a curse and a joy to understand the mechanisms and functions of the central nervous system: a curse as I know all too well how we should live (and how we are not) and a joy as I know that with effort, collaboration and shaking off the shackles that are keeping us down, we could all be the best human beings that we were designed to be.
It is also a truth that we as a civilisation have passed the point of no return and there is a real need to think about what is next, after the snake finally devours its tail.
So as I sit down to think about how best I can utilise my knowledge, my experiences, my now considerable library of neuroscience both professionally and personally, I wish to, as part of this say a huge
THANK YOU
For being there, for reading, for not reading, for commenting, for not commenting, for liking or for refraining to like.
All of this is going to contribute to the decisions that I make going forward.
500 posts, all created, designed, written and posted by me, myself and I.
I intend you have gained what you needed from them and I intend that no matter what I decide to do next, that you see the value in continuing on this path with me.
Thank you again and here is to the future.
It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves
Huge congratulations!!!
Amazing !!! Well done!!!
