Each week I am inviting you to choose just one task to focus on that will support the tone of the week. You need to be able to commit to it consistently each day, every day, until Sunday. That is how the brain changes. By changing the environment, having new experiences and being consistent with it.
New Experiences=Neuroplasticty/Neurogenesis
Mindful Breathing: Practice focused breathing. Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and pay attention to your breath. When your mind wanders, gently bring it back to the breath. This trains your brain to sustain attention.
Visual Tracking: Use a pen or your finger to follow a moving object (like a pendulum or a passing car). This exercise improves visual attention and tracking abilities.
Dual N-Back: Play the dual N-back game. It challenges working memory and attention by requiring you to remember both visual and auditory cues from previous rounds.
The dual N-back game is a brain training exercise that enhances cognitive abilities, specifically working memory. Here’s how it works:
Task Description: In the dual N-back task, you’re presented with two sequences simultaneously:
Auditory Sequence: A series of spoken letters.
Visual Sequence: The positions of a square on the screen.
Challenge: Your goal is to remember both the letter and the square position from n rounds earlier. When the current stimulus matches the one that appeared earlier in both sequences, you indicate it.
Benefits:
Working Memory: Dual N-back improves your working memory—the ability to hold and manipulate information in your mind.
Fluid Intelligence: By challenging your memory and attention, it indirectly enhances fluid intelligence—the ability to solve novel problems.
You can find online versions or mobile apps to practice the dual N-back game.
Chunking: Break down complex tasks into smaller chunks. Focus on one chunk at a time. For example, when reading, focus on a paragraph or a few sentences before moving on.
Selective Attention: Look around your environment and consciously choose one specific object. Pay attention to its details—the color, texture, and shape—for a few minutes. This sharpens selective attention.
Always remember, whatyou focus on creates your reality
