Perpetual Anticipation (Because I am not keen on Hope)
Welcome to your first (UN)Anticipated Advent Gift
It is the first day of December and all through the house there is a feeling of …. perpetual anticipation. What is this phenomena I hear your ask? Well, it is a form of anticipation in which temporal predictions are made when the subject cannot measure the true passage of time with an external timing device. I think we can all agree that December is full of temporal twists and turns. Firstly, how can it actually be December? Secondly if you are under the age of ten it goes ever so slowly, and then the big day goes in a matter of a blink of an eye. The rest of the population, thirdly, is mostly burnt out, peopled out and yearning to get to the point where they can have a bit of time out.
So here is the first of four gifts of December.
Today is all about anticipation, and changing your perspective of it. These gifts have been designed to support your senses to change your internal state. If you can just take some of your perpetual temporal predictions, observe the suggestions within the gift, and let go of any expectations, replacing them with great anticipations then you will be able to start December in a different and unexpected state.
Doing the unexpected can be a great wake up call to your central nervous system and remind you that you are very much alive and (mostly) well in the present. Take some time, have a go and I anticipate that you will reap the reward for your endeavour. ‘Just three things’ can change your December -for the better!
Brew yourself a perpetual anticipation tea.
Take half a spoonful of green tea, half a spoonful of black tea, chop some apple and pear into your blend, put a smidge of vanilla in, chop an almond, or put a tiny bit of ground almonds and (here is the magic) crush a cardamon seed and let them all steep in hot water for around 6 minutes.
Sit back and enjoy the aroma and allow the magic of the tea soothe your frazzled nerves so you can regain great anticipation from perpetual anticipation.
Take five minutes to set your intentions for December
So this is your opportunity to sit and write a list of what you intend for yourself for the month of December. I hate hope (it is such a limiting and disempowering thing) but I love intention. It really supports taking control back .
So just keep it simple and intend the three things that are going to make the most and best of December.
Change your perpetual anticipation to a great one
Here is an easy to follow model to shift into a state of great expectation. Just download here. This model has been designed to challenge your perceptions and open your limbic system and prefrontal cortex to creating different.
I intend you enjoy your first gift and anticipate that I will see you again on the 11th, when we will be connecting with Joy.
Did you know that joy can be mapped on the face of a premature baby? How amazing is that? This gives the inference that we feel joy in utero. The ability to feel joy wired into us before we are even born. That truly is a magical thought for the month of December.
“Well," said Pooh, "what I like best," and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.”
