I'm in the category of perimenopause / menopause now. Body changing, brain fog, can cry a lot, hot flushes have calmed down with herbs though which is good. But feel old, frumpy and sometimes grumpy and exercise doesn't work to keep the body toned. All the talk in the media and companies supporting menopause and talking about it. On one hand I think great something positive will come from this and it should not be another thing for women to just get on with and often suffer. On the other something feels off like it isn't empowering to women. The promotion of HRT while I know it is helpful for many women, something seems like this isn't a miracle pill after all.

I don't have the answers but have been asking what is really going on here and what is an empowering way so I can rock it as I'm older and hopefully wiser - although maybe not wiser!!

You are definitely wiser.. I suppose the challenge is ignoring the toxic narrative and trusting your life experiences to tell you your truths. I think an empowering way is to turn your back on all things you “should” do according to social discourse and embrace all that is good for you.

I agree that increasing narrative around menopause would suggest something positive however I too see it highjacked by toxic attitudes and limiting beliefs.

So Helen, let me ask you - what do you need from me to make you feel valued within our world 🥰 you have more value than you realise and it’s time to appreciate that value.

This made me cry when talking about feeling valued and having more value than I realise. So for me would be reminders to show that value as this is very likely something I dont notice or see in myself but maybe others do and maybe just get me to pause for a moment to actually take that in rather than letting it brush off.
