I'm not sure I understand this. This morning I had a situation at work and was thinking of all the things that could go wrong- I thought there was something I should have done but hadn't, panicked then found out that I had actually done the right thing some time ago. What is the difference with the first scenario and the second where you say coming up with all the possible different endings there could be? Surely some of these will be negative so where is the benefit? Am I missing something?
There are also positives and neutrals as outcomes which are also possibilities .. this exercise is to be able to override the fear/anxiety mechanism which is pure limbic system and use the wisdom and insight of prefrontal cortex so that our brain can adapt to understanding that not all outcomes lead to pain/sufferings so it’s a case of which is the least painful but injects a bit of oh wow that could happen or that could happen and that’s amazing which leads to optimism and opportunity 🥳
Thanks Dr Rach- usually the outcome is not as bad as I thought it would be and I do realise that- I think the lesson is to think of the possible positive outcomes as well as the possible negative ones- maybe it will be a long time in changing my thinking but again= this is a journey. Thank k you so much

Exactly that Lisa! It will take a while but persist and it will become second nature 😍
